Even the Best Leaders Must Constantly Improve

Perhaps nothing is a bigger obstacle to effective leadership than complacency and/ or the belief that one knows and does everything perfectly, and can't improve! In everything we do, and perhaps it is even more obvious in leaders, each of us can always get better in some way, learn more, and enhance one's performance, assets and abilities. Times, scenarios, events, etc., are constantly changing, and until (and unless) one admits that he must keep learning and getting better, he will never become the best that he can be! No matter how experienced, expert, well - meaning, successful, well - intentioned or effective one is, even the best leaders must constantly IMPROVE!

1. Being a real leader demands a conscious effort and commitment to innovate, investigate, maintain one's integrity, make an impact, create and deliver upon one's consistent ideology, and to do so with a creative imagination that focuses on doing the best possible job for his organization and those he serves. True leaders develop a quality intuition based on experience and true expertise.

2. What methods do you consider, and which methodologies do you believe will make a real difference? Is your modus operandi set in stone, or do you remain flexible enough to consider the best alternatives that will make your group strongest and most relevant?

3. Have you examined your priorities and their essential value and the best possibilities? Quality leadership demands strong and effective planning, to make a difference rather than merely holding on to the status quo.

4. Real leadership must focus upon the most significantly relevant approach and considerations. If you want to lead, examine you true reasons for wanting to. When was the last time you took an objective look at your personal rationale and reasoning?

5. Only when someone remains open to various options and alternatives, will the group become best positioned to take advantage of the most significant, needed opportunities, as they present themselves. There is no room for someone who leads in a closed - minded way!

6. A true leader is directed by his vital, vibrant vision. It permits him to visualize the possibilities, and only by doing so, can he (and his group) improve and become better. When one strives for a meaningful goal, with an intense focus, he looks at and visualizes possibilities, and is capable of proceeding with the necessary vim and vigor needed to make his organization stronger.

7. This process is an ever evolving one, which embraces empathy, focused on the best way to serve and enrich the membership experience. To do so, a leader must realize he needs to improve, and goes after, and participates in many valuable experiences, so as to gain the highest degree of expertise.

Without committing to improvement, no one can ever lead as well as he could and should. The reality is that even the best leaders must constantly IMPROVE!
